Australia Salary After-Tax Calculator 2026–27

Type your salary and see your take-home pay instantly — per year, month, fortnight or hour — with income tax, Medicare levy, HELP and super explained.

2026–27 income tax rates (15% bracket from 1 July 2026), low income tax offset, Medicare levy and HELP. Excludes salary sacrifice, other offsets and deductions. Calculated privately in your browser.

How the estimate works

Take-home pay, not a tax refund

The calculator annualises the pay you enter, adds any bonus and applies the 2026–27 tax rates for your residency. Residents receive the $18,200 tax-free threshold and the low income tax offset of up to $700, then pay the 2% Medicare levy (reduced for low incomes). HELP repayments are added when selected.

Super is not deducted from your pay. Your employer adds the 12% super guarantee on top of your salary, so it is shown separately. If your offer is a package that includes super, the calculator can remove it first.

Actual pay is withheld using ATO tax tables and can differ slightly. Salary sacrifice, allowances, the Medicare levy surcharge and other offsets are not included.

Example: $90,000 salary

  • Income tax$17,520
  • Medicare levy (2%)$1,800
  • Take-home pay$70,680
  • Per fortnight$2,718

Resident, no HELP, 2026–27 rates. Your employer would also pay $10,800 into super.

Australia salary after-tax FAQs

Is this Australian salary after-tax calculator free?+

Yes. It is free, needs no account and calculates everything in your browser.

Which tax year does it use?+

It uses the 2026–27 Australian resident tax rates, where the rate on income between $18,201 and $45,000 falls to 15% from 1 July 2026, together with the low income tax offset, Medicare levy and HELP repayment rates.

Is super taken out of my take-home pay?+

No. The 12% super guarantee is paid by your employer on top of your salary. If your job offer is a total package that includes super, tick “My salary includes super” and the calculator removes it first.

Does it include the Medicare levy and HELP?+

Yes. Residents pay the 2% Medicare levy, reduced for low incomes, unless you tick the exemption. HELP repayments are added when you tick the student-loan option.

Why might my payslip be different?+

Payroll withholding uses ATO tax tables, your TFN declaration, salary sacrifice, allowances and other adjustments. This is an annual estimate, not a payslip.
