How to read this map: it lets you select your location, but the resident income-tax brackets are the same nationwide. Residency, deductions, Medicare and student-loan obligations can still change your estimate.
Keep the returns separate: Canada uses different tax years, residency rules, deductions and payroll contributions.

For Australian residents, the calculator applies the 2025–26 tax-free threshold and progressive rates, then reduces income tax by the low income tax offset where eligible. It estimates the ordinary Medicare levy using the low-income phase-in and can add an optional compulsory HELP repayment. The estimated filing balance is PAYG tax already withheld minus these calculated liabilities.

If $22,000 was withheld and the calculator estimates $19,300 of income tax, Medicare levy and selected repayments, the estimated refund is $2,700.
If withholding is $15,000 but estimated liabilities total $17,400, the result is $2,400 owing to the ATO.
A $1,000 eligible deduction reduces taxable income by $1,000. It does not automatically create a $1,000 refund; the tax effect depends on your marginal rate.
Selecting HELP adds an estimated compulsory repayment when income exceeds the applicable threshold. Actual repayment income can include adjustments not collected by this quick tool.
